Block Blast alternatives with no ads
Block Blast nailed the formula: drop shapes on an 8×8 grid, clear full lines, chase a high score. If you love the gameplay but not the ads between rounds, here are block puzzles that keep the satisfying part and lose the interruptions.

What to look for in a Block Blast alternative
Most free block puzzles are paid for by ads. The App Store's App Privacy label is the quickest way to check: an app that shows third-party ads has to list “Third-Party Advertising” there, while an app that collects nothing says “Data Not Collected”.
Beyond ads, look for a daily board to give you a reason to come back, a fair one-time price rather than a subscription, and progress that syncs through iCloud so a new phone doesn't wipe your best scores.
- No ads — check the App Privacy label for “Third-Party Advertising”
- One-time unlock rather than a subscription
- A daily challenge and Game Center leaderboards
- iCloud sync for scores and progress
1. Block Legacy — the closest like-for-like switch
Block Legacy is the classic 8×8 drag-and-drop block puzzle with no ads at all. Fill a row or column to clear it, chain clears for combos, and keep the board breathing.
It adds special pieces (a Magic Brick that clears its row, a Bomb and a Wild Piece), a once-a-day challenge board with its own leaderboard, and 50 themes that reskin the board, blocks and music. The core game is free; one optional £1.99 purchase unlocks everything.
2. SandMorph — a block puzzle where the blocks turn to sand
If you want something that feels fresh, SandMorph drops pieces made of real falling sand. They pour and pile up, and you clear by joining one colour from wall to wall.
There's a ten-land Expedition, 100 hand-tuned puzzles, a Daily Dune and a Weekly Challenge — and no ads. Plenty is free forever; a single £2.49 purchase unlocks the full game.
3. Sumzo — Block Blast with numbers (coming soon)
Sumzo gives every tile a number. Lines clear when they add up to exactly the target on the edge of the board, so every placement is a tiny maths puzzle. It's coming soon to iPhone and iPad.
